Adults Get a Happy Meal
Plus World Central Kitchen helps out after Hurricane Ian and more links
McDonald’s has an adult happy meal
After two-plus years of a pandemic, adults worldwide could stand a dose of happiness. Enter McDonald’s, which today launched its first Adult Happy Meal. The meal includes a choice of Big Mac or Chicken McNuggets (and fried and a drink) also includes a grown-up collectible from Cactus Plant Flea Market. Of course, for a truly “adult happy” meal, we’d prefer a McMartini, but the collectibles are pretty adorable.
World Central Kitchen is in Southwest Florida
This past week, Hurricane Ian devastated Southwest Florida as the Category 4 hurricane made landfall, leaving a path of utter destruction in Fort Myers, Sanibel Island, and other cities along the coast. That same day, José Andrés’ World Central Kitchen started mobilizing mobile kitchens and food trucks to help feed people as they begin the monumental task of rebuilding.
Girl Scouts are raising cookie prices
Nothing — not even Girl Scout cookies — can escape inflation. Girl Scout cookies will increase one dollar per box, according to a memo, stating that “core” cookies will cost $5 and specialty cookies (S’Mores and Toffee-Tastic) will cost $6. The increase is due to bakery production cost increases, requests for troop profits, and increased expenses.
Chocolate bunnies to be destroyed after legal dispute
A Swiss court ruled in favor of the chocolate company, Lindt & Spruengli, ruling that its gold-foil chocolate bunnies deserve protection. It ordered German store, Lidl, to stop producing copycat bunnies (copybunnies?) and to destroy its remaining supply. No word yet, on whether Lidl will hire people to dispatch of the bunnies by simply biting their heads off.
Seems wasteful to destroy the chocolate bunnies...couldn't they be donated to homeless shelters (if there are any there), perhaps without the packaging to bring some cheer?
