Florida receives New Michelin Stars
Plus, Michelin adds 16 New York Restaurants to its Guide, with Quebec and California receiving new Guides in the coming months
With the summer months coming, Michelin is making moves before the warm weather lull.
Last evening, Michelin announced its 2025 Florida entries in a ceremony at the Four Seasons Hotel Orlando, surprising the crowd by adding another Two-Michelin-Starred restaurant to the Sunshine State — Orlando’s Sorekara. The restaurant offers a tasting menu highlighting Japan’s 72 micro seasons by chef/owner William Shen. Sorekara joins L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon in Miami, which retains its Two-Star status for this year.
Four new restaurants received a One-Michelin-Star rating, with chef Ryan Ratino earning a Star at both his Chef’s Counter at MAASS in Fort Lauderdale and his Orlando restaurant, Ômo by Jônt (which is also a James Beard Award finalist in the Best New Restaurant category).
Miami chef Nando Chang’s Itamae Ao received a Michelin Star for its excellent Peruvian/Japanese cuisine. Chang is also up for a James Beard Award in the Best Chef: South category. Konro in West Palm Beach received a Star for its contemporary cuisine by chef Jacob Bickelhaupt and an impressive wine list by sommelier Nadia Bickelhaupt.
Michelin also awarded Green Stars to two Miami restaurants that are also Michelin One-Starred restaurants: EntreNos, for its locally sourced produce, seafood, meat, and even dinnerware created by local artisans; and Stubborn Seed, which sources produce from chef Jeremy Ford’s 5.5 acre farm.
In total, there are now 31 Michelin-starred restaurants in Florida, with 172 restaurants (including Bib Gourmands) rounding out the guide.
