Tourist pictures of Miami may be filled with palm trees swaying near a body of water, but in reality, the hottest neighborhood doesn’t have ocean views.

Instead, people flock to Wynwood for its street art, galleries, and interesting food and drink. Sandwiched between Miami’s Downtown and Design District neighborhoods, the area’s best-known attraction is Wynwood Walls, an outdoor gallery of murals painted by the world’s most renowned muralists and street artists.

Ten years ago, Wynwood was a mostly industrial neighborhood with small restaurateurs and breweries taking advantage of reasonable rent. Though the area is experiencing a construction boom and the introduction of chain stores, there’s still a thriving artisan food and drink scene — if you know where to find it.

From doughnuts and coffee to beer and burgers, here are the best places to eat and drink in Wynwood.

What sets 1-800-Lucky (143 NW 23rd St., Miami) apart from other food halls is its Asian night market vibe. Enter through a tiny bodega and record store and you’ll find an assortment of fare from sushi to ramen to dumplings — but 1-800-Lucky doest stop there: it’s also home to private karaoke rooms, a bar, and a lush outdoor garden complete with DJ booth. 1-800-Lucky is also home to Taiyaki and its Instagrammable fish-shaped ice cream cones, so there’s something for everyone.
