Make This Cream Cheese Board For Your Holiday Party
Ingrid Hoffmann's recipe puts butter boards on blast
Forget all those TikTok butter board trends — there’s a new board in town that’s creamier and tastier.
It’s Ingrid Hoffmann’s cream cheese and guava board.
The chef, cookbook author, and host of Food Network’s Simply Delicioso has created a board that’s sweet, savory, and smoky.
Hoffmann said she wanted to riff on the butter board craze and took inspiration from a recipe from one of her books. “I had a recipe in my first book for guava shells stuffed with cream cheese. That’s where the idea came from. I thought, let’s do a cream cheese board.”
This board is the perfect addition to any dinner or party, since it only takes a few minutes, according to Hoffmann.
First, start with a clean charcuterie board. For her Instagram reel, Hoffmann spooned the cream cheese on the board the same way a butter board starts, but you can also pipe the cream cheese. “Piping would probably look a lot prettier,” she admits. To pipe, put softened cream cheese in a ziplock bag and cut one corner to make a point. Then, pipe the cream cheese onto the board.
Hoffman decorates the board with roughly chopped guava shells, chopped walnuts, crumbled bacon, chives, and orange zest.
Hoffman, who has Colombian roots, says the guava/cream cheese combination is popular in South American countries. “I added some twists with the bacon, chives, and orange zest.”
Hoffmann recommends serving the board with a bread basket filled with French bread, pumpernickel, and crackers.
The best thing, according to Hoffmann, is that this cream cheese board requires almost no prep time. “You can make your bacon beforehand and pre-chop your walnuts and guava, but the assembly takes nothing.”
Hoffman says that you can play with the board, adding items you have around the house like fresh dill, fruits, and other nuts — it’s your creation, after all.
The chef and television personality loves the concept of boards. “I’ve done a breakfast board with pancakes, different berries, and honey. Boards are fun when you’re hosting family or friends. They’re colorful and festive.”
