The New York City Wine & Food Festival (NYCWFF) returns for its 15th year October 13 to 16, 2022, with a bevy of dinners, seminars, and tastings that range from an intimate dinner with Carla Hall and Nicholas Poulmentis to the festival’s signature Burger Bash and a raucous drag brunch.
In total, more than 400 chefs, bar professionals, and wine and spirits producers will participate in the multi-day event which benefits God’s Love We Deliver.
The roster of NYCWFF events was just announced, with the website going live. Capital One cardholders will have access to a special pre-sale from June 10 to 16, and tickets will be available to the general public on Friday, June 17.
2022 marks a new beginning for the NYCWFF. In 2020, in the midst of the first wave of the pandemic, the festival moved to a mostly virtual format, with events like the Burger Bash held remotely, accented by a series of intimate dinners throughout the city. Last year, the festival returned to hosting in-person events but greatly reduced the number of parties and seminars. This year, the festival will host over 80 parties — all while keeping a careful eye on CDC guidances to implement any needed safety measures.
With 80 different events, it’s easy to gravitate toward the tried and true parties like the Grand Tasting or the Backyard Barbecue, but there are many smaller events to try. Here are the events — including some new ones — worth checking out.
Battle of the Boroughs: A Cocktail Showdown hosted by The Try Guys
If you’ve ever wandered down the YouTube rabbit hole, you’re familiar with the Try Guys — a group of “guys” who “try” various experiences like getting a Brazilian wax, performing drag, and cooking without a recipe. The Try Guys will host the ultimate cocktail competition that pits bartenders from all five New York City boroughs against each other. Will Manhattan reign supreme? Will Brooklyn take it all? Or will Staten Island take the prize home with it on the ferry that evening?
Brunch with Michael Solomonov
Jame Beard winner Michael Solomonov showcases his Israeli roots at this special brunch. The chef will close down his recently opened Brooklyn restaurant, Laser Wolf, to host this afternoon that combines food, culture, and music: Snacktime, a seven-piece brass band that strives to entertain people with “snacks” of joy will travel from Philadelphia to entertain brunch-goers.
Pierogi Master Class with Veselka
For six decades, Veselka has been the place to dine on authentic Ukrainian food in New York City’s East Village. In this class, the chefs of Veselka will share their secrets to making their famous pierogis. You will learn how to fill and fold these dumplings before eating the finished product. Proceeds from this class will benefit an organization focused on aiding the citizens of Ukraine.
Shake Shack HQ Dinner and Tour
Take a tour of the inner working of Shake Shack at the interactive event that shows you where your favorite burgers and shakes are born. Shake Shack’s West Village Innovation Kitchen, usually closed to the general public, will open its doors for one evening. Shake Shack culinary director and his team will share the secrets behind their craveable burgers. Afterward, enjoy a meal of Shake Shack favorites and try some items still in the development phase.
