People Wait For Hours to Get These Cinnamon Rolls

Miami is no stranger to the velvet rope. On any Friday evening, it’s near impossible to snag a table at a trendy restaurant or gain entry into one of its exciting nightclubs.
But, some of the longest lines in Miami happen in broad daylight with people queuing up for hours to purchase….cinnamon rolls.
The Redland, located about an hour south of Downtown Miami in the area’s farm country, is the home of Knaus Berry Farm, a small farm stand that sells fresh-from-the-ground vegetables, fruits, ice cream, and baked goods. Along with the pies, jams, and breads, you’ll find Miami’s best-loved treat: freshly baked cinnamon rolls.
The cinnamon rolls are more than a bakery item. To many Miamians, they’re a part of their lives. Ask someone born in South Florida, and they’ll likely share fond memories of making the drive on a Saturday afternoon to get cinnamon rolls and a frosty strawberry milkshake. These people, in turn, take their own children — and grandchildren to Knaus Berry Farm.
In 1956 Ray and Russell Knaus opened a roadside stand to sell their berries. The brothers expanded their inventory to include pies and other baked goods after a fruit broker told Ray's wife, Barbara, that her cookies were delicious. The farm is now run by Ray and Barbara's children and their families. The farm, by the way, is run very much like it was in 1956: Knaus doesn’t accept credit cards and is closed on Sundays. The farm also closes for the summer each May and reopens (Lord willing, as the website reads) in October.
And, although Knaus Berry Farm still grows some of the area’s sweetest strawberries, it’s the cinnamon rolls that people crave.
There’s a reason.
