The New York Times just released its third annual Restaurant List, which lists the 50 restaurants in the United States that NYT food writers are most excited about.
The list was compiled by a dozen editors, reporters, and critics, and includes both new restaurants opened since 2022 and old favorites (according to the paper, it’s about a 50/50 mix). Read the list here.
The World’s 50 Best Hotels
The inaugural World’s 50 Best Hotels list has just been published, spotlighting the most luxe and iconic properties on the planet. The list, compiled by 50 Best (who also publish the 50 Best Bars and 50 Best Restaurants lists), was the result of polling the opinions and experiences of 580 industry experts across the world. Claridges in London, Raffles Singapore, and Hotel Du Cap-Eden -Roc Antibes are some of the legendary hotels to make the list. Guinness Opens a Brewery in Chicago
If you’ve ever been to Dublin, no doubt you’ve been to the Guinness Storehouse - part museum, part taproom, and part interactive beer-themed amusement park - it’s considered one of the top tourist destinations in Dublin (and worth the trip — especially when you’re enjoying a pint at the source while overlooking all of Dublin from atop a giant pint-shaped rooftop bar). Now, you need only travel to Chicago to have a Guinness experience. Guinness OpenGate Brewery just started pouring in Chicago’s West Loop. The brewery offers beers brewed both in Dublin and on-site in Chicago, as well as a bakery, full food menu, and (of course) a gift shop.
The USDA Warns Against SPAM
If you’re planning on making some SPAM fried rice, maybe think again. The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service has just issued a warning regarding SPAM, noting that certain lots of SPAM were under-processed, which can lead to contamination. The SPAM in question was produced on Aug. 17 and has a best-by date of August 2026. The lot code for the product is A08173 and is printed on the bottom of cans. The product bears the establishment number “EST. 199” inside the USDA mark of inspection. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
