The World's Best Restaurant is in Peru

Central in Lima, Peru is the World’s Best Restaurant
Last week, the annual World’s 50 Best Restaurants list was announced in a ceremony in Valencia. The top spot was given to Virgilio Martinez and Pia Leon, the husband-and-wife team behind Central, a restaurant in Lima, Peru that takes inspiration from its country’s vast bounty. The menu consists of ingredients sourced throughout Peru — from the Pacific Ocean to the Andes. The restaurant offers several tasting menus that take diners through the country’s various ecosystems. A 12-course culinary journey, for example, costs about $287 USD. Currently, according to its website, the restaurant is only taking reservations through September 2023, with the reservation books for October through December 2023 opening on August 15. Food adventurers should mark their calendars accordingly.

Salt & Straw Releases Berry-Good Ice Cream Flavors
Summer is the time for fresh berries and Portland-based Salt & Straw ice cream is taking advantage of Oregon’s berry season with its “Berries Berries Berries” seasonal ice cream flavors. All flavors are available to ship nationwide or visit a scoop shop for a more personal approach. New York City’s Tin Building Has a New Outdoor Bar
Tin Building by Jean-Georges has just added a new bar where you can day drink on the water. Outdoor Bar @ Tin Building offers wine, beer, bubbles on tap, and a menu of summer sippers that includes the Bourbon Apricot Cooler (bourbon, apricot, lime, and mint) and the Summer Berry Mule (bourbon, blueberry, blackberry, lime, and ginger beer). For those who want to enjoy the waterfront views but don’t want to imbibe, Outdoor Bar offers nonalcoholic options, as well.
The Top Crimes Against Food
It might be because of its everyday accessibility, but Italian food is the cuisine that gets the most abused. The website bonusfinder.com actually surveyed 1,400 Italian residents to find out the worst crimes tourists commit against authentic Italian food. The worst “crime”: putting ketchup on pizza, followed closely by using pineapple as a pizza topping.
