Who is the Michelin-Starred Mystery Chef on the And Just Like That Season Finale?
It’s safe to say that HBO’s Sex and the City was one of the most defining shows of the late 90s and early 2000s. If you were a single woman living in NYC (or Sand Diego or Peoria or Chicago), you self-defined as a Carrie, Miranda, Samantha, or Charlotte.
The series was semi-revived with HBO’s And Just Like That, which mostly got hate-watched in its first season after Big was killed via Peleton, Miranda cheated on Steve with New York’s least funny comedian and Charlotte did nothing but raise two bratty teens (and one adorable bulldog).
HBO upped its game for the second season: Aidan returned, Miranda broke up with Che, and Charlotte sold art to Sam Smith.
Now, with a third season recently announced, the second season wraps up with one last episode.
This one has plenty of cliffhangers: will Aidan break up with Carrie, will Samantha appear for more than two minutes in her much-anticipated cameo, and who is the mystery Michelin-starred chef that will host Carrie’s “last supper”?
And yes - I know chefs don’t receive Michelin stars, but that’s how it’s written in the scripts. For the life of me, I swore I heard Daniel Boulud’s name mentioned in a (maybe deleted) trailer for the finale. Boulud may be a strong contender for the gig since Carrie and company dined at two-Michelin-starred Daniel twice this year. We’ll all find out in a day, when the finale airs on August 24.
It’s PSL Time
Speaking of August 24, it’s also the day Starbucks re-releases its pumpkin spice latte.
For many (including me), that day marks the unofficial start of fall, as we don our pumpkin-hued outfits and brace for the still-90-degree heat to venture out to be the first kid on our block to post a PSL selfie to Instagram.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of this spicy/sweet drink which some consider the downfall of civilization and others celebrate as the very pinnacle of coffee culture. Starbucks is also introducing a few other autumnal drinks this year including the iced apple crisp oatmilk shaken espresso, and an iced pumpkin cream chai tea latte. Returning champs include the pumpkin cream cold brew, and an apple crisp oatmilk macchiato.
Flying Fish
For most of us, air travel consists of hurling through the skies in a giant flying can and (if we’re lucky) getting a package of pretzels and a Diet Coke as a consolation prize.
Of course, there is a better way if you’re willing to pay for it.
Global business aviation company, VistaJet has partnered with Estiatorio Milos to offer the seafood restaurant’s lobster salad onboard all of its fleet of more than 360 aircraft (some of which — like the Global 7500 — can fly nonstop from Miami to Greece in case you want some more fresh, Mediterranean seafood). The salad is available on flights originating from Dubai, Athens, London, Las Vegas, New York, Miami, and Montreal.
Milos chef and founder Costas Spiliadis says, “As pioneers in our respective fields, I’m excited for this new partnership between VistaJet and Estiatorio Milos. It is our pleasure to introduce one of our most regarded dishes, the refreshingly light Milos lobster salad, to be exclusively available to VistaJet clients who recognize freshness and quality.”
How much will this “flying fish” cost you? You know the saying — if you have to ask, you can’t afford it. But, if you must know, it’s somewhere between $12,000 and $20,000 per hour, including the lobster.
